Wound Care

Persistent wounds are often associated with Lymphedema. Lymphedema affects the integrity of the skin often resulting in ‘weeping’ wounds. It’s crucial that these wounds are taken care of– if left untreated infections can occur leading to other health complications.

If a patient has wounds, wound care is a routine part of treatment at each visit. For patients with more extreme wounds, they can receive an infusion– which is an IV administered antibiotic treatment of Dalvance. Dalvance is an antibiotic, which treats bacterial infections of the skin. This antibiotic is very powerful and speeds up the process of healing wounds. The patient will only need up to a few of these antibiotic infusions.
